a new media house for VRT

A new building for Flanders’ best-known media institution calls for a well-thought-out approach. We support VRT during the construction of its new building with internal and external communication.
Client: VRT
Sector: Real estate (media company)
Location: Brussels
Year: 2018 - now
the question

After 50 years in the familiar VRT building, the time has come for a brand-new, future-oriented building for the public broadcaster. As an institution in the Flemish media landscape, this ambitious and significant project attracts considerable attention from the public and the press.

Its construction is being followed closely by both internal and external stakeholders, such as journalists, neighbours and political parties. That is why we support VRT with a well-thought-out strategy that reaches various target groups.

from construction-site communication to internal change communication
From ‘Open Wervendagen’ (Open Site Days) to viewpoints looking out at the construction site, from internal creative events to press communication: together, we are putting the VRT site on the map. Both for the outside world and for its future residents: the VRT employees.
our impact
After a challenging process, the construction of the new VRT headquarters began in 2021. With an overarching communication strategy, we laid the foundation for clear, creative communication that aligned with VRT’s identity.
communication strategy
Delopment of a broadly supported communication strategy, with attention for all types of stakeholders, from internal staff to political actors.
proximity communication
A well-considered communication process targeted towards the neighbourhood in a complex environment, including the organisation of neighbourhood events. This streamlined communication ultimately contributed to obtaining the permit.
project communication
Extensive project communication covering everything related to the construction site and the new VRT building, complemented by a clear crisis communication plan and support during crisis communication. Both for incidents on the site and issues concerning the permitting process.
content creation
Engaging, fun content for all forms of communication, ranging from videos and photos of the construction site to the publication of a site newsletter and the creation of leaflets for ‘Open Wervendag’.
PR & press events
Press events, such as a ‘foundation stone’ ceremony, always taking into account VRT’s public role and the attention this media building attracts.
project management
Coordination of all communication through detailed schedules and annual plans, in collaboration with the VRT Morgen contractor consortium and VRT’s construction team.
